Shorts, Tights, and Socks- OH MY! *(features an exclusive tale of my sixth grade experiences*)

American Eagle Sweater
Shorts from Urban Outfitters
Forever21 scarf maybe?

Let me start off this blog post with a tale about the journeys of a awkward sixth grader named Maggie. (it's me, I'm referring to myself as the awkward sixth grader).

In the sixth grade, young outfit of the day by Maggie wasn't too different from the outfit of the day by Maggie today. I was always trying to branch out with my fashion and I tried to never wear the same thing twice. In some aspects, I must admit I was a kind of cool for my age. I mean, do you know any 11 year olds that shop at Urban Outfitters? Well, I did. And I was kind of punk rock back then... like converse, graphic tee, and skinny jeans. Except one day I wore colored jeans before that was cool, but that stories for another day.
Anyway, despite the little ounce of coolness I possessed, a lot, A LOT of weird still remained. I remember wearing a ribbon as a chocker necklace, a headband as a belt, a lot of Bermuda shorts, and a wholeee lot of tank tops OVER regular tops. I also once wore the same shirt as the much hated Spanish teacher, but that too is for another day. On top of all of that, my signature hairstyles were two low pigtails, two braids with the top of my hair in a poof, and flat out brushed out natural hair. Needless to say, sixth grade was my wild year.
(not the same outfit I wore to school on that wonderful day, but yeah.. 6th grade man...)

This is were the relevant part comes in. I used to dance and the cool thing at dance to do was to wear Juicy Couture socks. I decided I wanted to wear my Juicy Couture socks to school one day because I apparently idgaf back then. I wore the socks with my black converse, a jean skirt, and, WAIT FOR IT, an Abercrombie blue hoodie. And of course my hair was in its famous two low pigtails. That was a big day for me. People said, TEACHERS said, Maggie, "why are you wearing crazy socks?" or "nice outfit choice today Maggie...." It was a fun, fun time.

(when high socks got chic)
After that incident, I told myself I would never wear high socks again, which brings me to now. High socks are suddenly REALLY COOL and SUPER CHIC! Like, hello? Why couldn't this have happened six years ago? But it's okay. It's helping me conquer my fear of high socks slowly, but surely. My much more mature, smarter, and intelligent senior self decided to screw the old promise sixth grade Maggie made. Wear high socks again, just don't do it with Abercrombie.

In this outfit, I wore my high socks with black loafers, tights, and shorts on the bottom. On the top I wore a simple sweater with a fun scarf. It was fun to wear, and hardly anyone ridiculed me for the socks! (hardly...)
Hope you enjoyed this story.
love,
Maggie
