Snow in Love

SNOW!! IN GEORGIA!!! (Say to the tune of "TROLL IN THE DUNGEON!!!" from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) (if you have never seen Harry Potter, please ignore everything I just said...) Hi everyone! Yes, it's true. The south had a little bit of a snow storm. And yes, it is exactly like it is portrayed on Twitter- empty bread aisles, pile-ups, no school- all for a whopping THREE INCHES OF SNOW. But, whether people liked it or not(my dog definitely didn't), I totally took advantage of this wonderful weather phenomenon and spend the last two days pretending like I actually live in a place where it snows every winter. My friends and I went night sledding, day sledding, had a few photoshoots, and drank a lot of hot chocolate. It was pretty much perfection. So yeah, here are a few ootds I wore in the snow!!! Hope you enjoy!

"So Prom is Four Months Away But I Need to Find a Dress Now..."

Hey Maggie, homecoming was four months ago, why are you just now posting this? Um okay sorry self sometimes I get distracted by Netflix and food!! Okay, for real though..... Hi everyone! Welcome to my Homecoming-that-was-too-late-for-homecoming-post-so-now-it-is-a-prom-post! These looks were from my school's homecoming week in which I was nominated for the Homecoming Court! I was so lucky and #blessed to be on the court with such beautiful and kind girls! I had a BLAST that week participating in parades, pep rallies, spirit days, and, most importantly, the FOOTBALL GAME! Wait, who am I kidding? I know nothing about sports! The most important thing was definitely the outfits! (just kidding but seriously). So, here are my looks from homecoming, which might inspire you for this prom season!

The first look was a Tony Bowles gown I wore to participate in the homecoming parade! I rode in my 'stang and waved to the children like it was Princess freakin' Diaries! The dress is mermaid style, which I was hesitant about, but once I tried it on, I fell in love! If you're wanting to try out mermaid style for prom this year, I definitely recommend getting one with a simple pattern, since the style of the dress speaks for itself! That's why this one was so especially beautiful to me, it was simple but had enough sparkly and style to light up a room!

The second look I wore was a Jack by BB Dakota cocktail dress. I wore this for the homecoming pep rally where I strutted down the gym floor with my BFF Eric! I know this quality is low, but the dress is half leather, half chiffon. Leather should not be underestimated. When paired with the right material and accessories, leather can be extremely elegant. I think the leather dress trend for prom this year would be SO COOL to try out this year! It says, "I'm going to prom but I'm cool enough to be at an Oscar's after party."

The final look is indeed from the football game/crowning. This dress is a Shail K which is still in stock at here at promgirl! I fell in LOVE with this dress the second I saw it on promgirl.  This dress is so gorgeous because 1. The Color- this color is not really gold but not really silver either, it's unique and it will stand you out from the light blues and hot pinks. 2. The Embellishments- the top of the dress is the ONLY place that has sequins on it, which makes it very elegant compared to the full body sparkle dresses. And 3. The Ruffles- these ruffles literally looked like the ocean waves moving calmly in the sunset (not really but really) every time I took a step. If you want to glide down the dance floor while looking red carpet worthy, I definitely recommend this dress!

Blair Waldorf Is My Spirit Animal

H&M Top
Gap Scarf
Old Navy Peacoat
Leather Skirt from Random Place

*Disclaimer: If you don't watch Gossip Girl, first, I highly suggest you do. Second, you'll prob get annoyed by this post....but read it anyway!

To say I love Gossip Girl is an understatement. Maybe "I am obsessed with Gossip Girl" or "I breathe Gossip Girl" or "Blair Waldorf is my spirit animal" would suffice. Maybe. Now that we've established that, I can also reveal that my outfits are inspired by Gossip Girl at least one a week. This week's just happened to be more Blair than anything. Underneath, I'm wearing a bright yellow top from H&M with a white leather skirt. It was super super cold so I put on a red plaid scarf, legging, high socks, and boots. Finally, I added a navy peacoat and a bright yellow headband. This outfit seems complicated, but it's really just layering and colorblocking. I get really bored with dull colors in the winter and I'm always looking to spice things up. Hence, the bright yellow with red, navy, grey, and white. When you get too bored of black and white this winter, try adding pops of color!

I'm So Cold.

Forever21 Sweater

I'm really cold. I'm wearing a really fuzzy, warm sweater. I'm still really cold. That's about all.

Breakfast at the Portables

Gap Sweater
MM Couture Jacket
Leggings
Target Beanie
Lucky Brand Purse
Arturo Chiang Boots

FIRST DAY BACK AT SCHOOL YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! Hhahahah I'm gonna die. On the first day back to school, aka the COLDEST it's EVER been in Georgia(not really but probably) I was feeling extra sarcastic and I thought it would be "funny" to recreate Breakfast at Tiffany's, except at my school's very ugly portables. It's not that funny......I think it was just the cold getting to me. Also, another fun fact about me, this has been the third year in a row that I've wore a striped shirt on the first day back from winter break. Yep folks, it doesn't get more exciting than that! This year, I wore a navy striped sweater with my fav new jacket, leggings, boots, and a beanie. I kept warm, comfy, and sarcastic in this outfit. Thanks for reading!
Love,
Maggie

Happy new year, Merry Christmas, Happy anything and everything! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and spent a lot of time relaxing, eating ice cream, and watching gossip girl.... Wait maybe that was just me.... Anyway, I have return bigger(I def gained some pounds over the break), better, and one year older! Yep that's right! This blog has offially been in service for one year! I started this on January 8, 2013 with an outfit inspired by Gossip Girl! Little did I know that one year later, I'd still be getting inspired from Gossip Girl... I also started an Instagram to coordinate with this blog one year ago! I gained over 900 followers, quite a few likes, and the occasional creepy comment- but who cares?! We're all a little creepy right? Wait maybe that's just me again.... Anyway, my first (documented) outfit of 2014 is this classic red plaid shirt with my new FAV jacket and jeans and boots. I took this is Charleston on King Street and it was frigid. This jacket literally saved my life. It's lines with teddy fur and is made by MM Couture, so you can probably find it at most boutiques! I hope this year is even better than the last and I thank everyone who's has been supporting this blog for this long too! Celebrate by posting an ootd of your own sometime and tag me in it! I would love to see you guys!

Love,
Maggie
