Shorts, Tights, and Socks- OH MY! *(features an exclusive tale of my sixth grade experiences*)

American Eagle Sweater
Shorts from Urban Outfitters
Forever21 scarf maybe?

Let me start off this blog post with a tale about the journeys of a awkward sixth grader named Maggie. (it's me, I'm referring to myself as the awkward sixth grader).

In the sixth grade, young outfit of the day by Maggie wasn't too different from the outfit of the day by Maggie today. I was always trying to branch out with my fashion and I tried to never wear the same thing twice. In some aspects, I must admit I was a kind of cool for my age. I mean, do you know any 11 year olds that shop at Urban Outfitters? Well, I did. And I was kind of punk rock back then... like converse, graphic tee, and skinny jeans. Except one day I wore colored jeans before that was cool, but that stories for another day.
Anyway, despite the little ounce of coolness I possessed, a lot, A LOT of weird still remained. I remember wearing a ribbon as a chocker necklace, a headband as a belt, a lot of Bermuda shorts, and a wholeee lot of tank tops OVER regular tops. I also once wore the same shirt as the much hated Spanish teacher, but that too is for another day. On top of all of that, my signature hairstyles were two low pigtails, two braids with the top of my hair in a poof, and flat out brushed out natural hair. Needless to say, sixth grade was my wild year.
(not the same outfit I wore to school on that wonderful day, but yeah.. 6th grade man...)

This is were the relevant part comes in. I used to dance and the cool thing at dance to do was to wear Juicy Couture socks. I decided I wanted to wear my Juicy Couture socks to school one day because I apparently idgaf back then. I wore the socks with my black converse, a jean skirt, and, WAIT FOR IT, an Abercrombie blue hoodie. And of course my hair was in its famous two low pigtails. That was a big day for me. People said, TEACHERS said, Maggie, "why are you wearing crazy socks?" or "nice outfit choice today Maggie...." It was a fun, fun time.

(when high socks got chic)
After that incident, I told myself I would never wear high socks again, which brings me to now. High socks are suddenly REALLY COOL and SUPER CHIC! Like, hello? Why couldn't this have happened six years ago? But it's okay. It's helping me conquer my fear of high socks slowly, but surely. My much more mature, smarter, and intelligent senior self decided to screw the old promise sixth grade Maggie made. Wear high socks again, just don't do it with Abercrombie.

In this outfit, I wore my high socks with black loafers, tights, and shorts on the bottom. On the top I wore a simple sweater with a fun scarf. It was fun to wear, and hardly anyone ridiculed me for the socks! (hardly...)
Hope you enjoyed this story.
love,
Maggie

Twerkyday

Greetings! I hope everyone is having a wonderfully annoying holiday time! I say that because relatives. If you're as #blessed as I am and have this entire week off from school, at this point you may be a little tired of Netflix and ice cream (I'm not I just forced myself off the couch). What I'm trying to say is I was bored today so I decided to create a few outfit ideas for Thanksgiving or a "Friendsgiving" or just a fall party. You are welcome to hate on them or love on them or continue unaffected in your leggings and big tee(I am). Here it goes!

Free People Top
Ya! Fur Vest
Random Booties
I call this one "Thanksgiving Music Fest" because, where else would I wear fringe booties with a white fur vest? If only thanksgiving dinner had different bands to play during different courses...

Forever21 Vest
Sweater from Urban Outfitters
this leather skirt is from a random boutique..
I call this one, "I'd never actually wear this to Thanksgiving dinner, I just like to pretend I live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan." Yeah.... that one is self-explanatory.

JC Penny's Sweater
Topshop Skirt
Arturo Chiang Boots
This one is called "Hey, I might actually wear this to Thanksgiving dinner." It's a skirt/sweater combo without being too dressy, uses fall colors and plaid, and it's surprisingly comfortable.

Hope you can take something from these ootd's this Thanksgivin' season! Remember to follow me on Instagram @outfitofthedaybymaggie and to have a happy holiday season!

Love,
Maggie

Swimming Pool Glimmering Darling

Old Navy Sweater
Charlotte Russe Denim Vest
Random Dress(skirt)
Michael Kors Loafers

Every year, at the same time, something extraordinary happens. For most people, this occurrence is normal. For me, weird things happen. This odd event, the most randomest thing I could participate in, is, in fact, swim team. Now, if you don't know me personally, you're probably thinking, so what? People do sports. No. Not me. I don't "do" sports. Think about Mia in the Disney classic, Princess Diaries, when she's trying to play baseball in order to pass gym and hits the coach in the face. Yeah multiple that by 1000 and you have me. I don't have any coordination whatsoever when it comes to using a bat or ball of any sorts. I can't throw. I can't catch. The list goes on. Bottom line is- the world should be very thankful that I love fashion and not soccer. The other bottom line is- it's rather a big deal that I participate in swim team. Now, why am I telling you this? Well, I'm not really sure exactly. I guess I am explaining the backdrop of this photo, the aquatic center, which I do love dearly. So yeah. I guess the moral of the story is, if you're really unathletic, swimming is a great exercise to participate in because you won't accidently hit someone in the eye. Thanks for reading.
-Maggie

Oh yeah, my outfit. So the first layer is the black and white floral dress, which you see at the bottom. I layered a mustard yellow sweater on top with a denim vest and an infinity scarf. I put on tights because it's rather chilly and, finally, I contrasted the yellow sweater with my red-orange loafers. If you're afraid to mix red and yellow because you're afraid you'll look like Ronald Mcdonald, try pairing the colors with something black and white, or denim, or both.

Tbh....

Forever21 Sweater
Cynthia Rowley Top (underneath sweater)
Leather leggings
Arturo Chiang Boots
Kate Spade Bag

If I told you where the contents of this outfit came from, you probably would give me a very concerned stare, then probably walk away confused. But I'm going to tell you guys anyway. And, at least my boots and purse are normal, so keep that in mind. Okay so here it goes.  This sweater is my mom's, the top that is under it and the necklace are from a consignment store, and.............wait for it............. my "leather leggings" actually belong to my sister's pre-teen Halloween costume (probably around 2001 js...) as Sandy from Grease.....Okay. I said it. Feel free to never read this blog again. But I really need leather looking leggings and there's no since in paying $50+ for them. But whatever. This is what I wore. Take it or leave it?
peace, love, don't judge me,
maggie

Good Morning, Good Morning!

American Eagle Chambray Shirt
Dress from BP Nordstrom
Arturo Chiang boots

This outfit was the result of being awaken to a shining sun and warm weather-on a Monday. I could not bear to go with my originally planned oversized sweater outfit, so I threw this classic outfit together with a striped dress and an opened chambray shirt over it. Moments like these are important to take advantage of. It's important to dress happily on a happy day! Much Love!

London Chic

Top from Fab'rik
Jeans
Baker's brand boots
Random Infinity Scarf

Okay, in case you guys haven't noticed yet, I am obsessed with New York. It's my number 1. However, my other semi-known city obsessed is, in fact, London, England...and it's not just because of the accents! (okay maybe a little bit). But still, I really like London and I really hope to go there soon. Meanwhile, I'll be sporting telephone booth tees or sipping tea in telephone booths or something like that.
xoxo,
Maggie

Wanna Be On Top(shop)?

Topshop Sweater
leggings
Arturo Chiang Boots
Kate Spade Bag
Vintage Sunglasses

I know it's difficult to see in this picture, but this sweater is an icy blue with fuzzy, sheep-like qualities. I. Am. Obsessed. The color is perfection. The shape is perfection. And... IT'S SO COMFY! I can already predict I will be wearing this quite often this winter. Hope you guys don't mind.

p.s. i'm not at a local middle school in this picture.... or am I????

Casual

Gap Sweater
Gap Cardigan
Leggings
Arturo Chiang Boots
Kate Spade Bag
Not sure what brand this necklace is..

Hi all! This is a super casual, comfortable Monday outfit. I took a sweater in which I usually wear with legging and uggs and an infinity scarf. However, I wore it today with a nice statement necklace and nicer boots(which I wear like everyday oops) and I actually did my hair.... Anyway, it's always a good idea when you want to be comfortable to take an old sweater and dress it up!

Maggie

"I'm A Little Drunk on Shoes, and High On Fashion Trends"

Zara Top
Urban Outfitters Dress
Tights
Arturo Chiang Boots
Kate Spade Bag
Vintage Sunnies

TU GUYS!!! TU!! So turnt up on fashion!!!!!! LOLZ!

But really,
sometimes I get really crazy with my outfits.

Like today. I wore a collared emerald dress underneath a graphic tee. Because it was so short, I wore black tights and, OF COURSE, my short brown boots. What else would you expect? Needless to say, I felt pretty cool in the outfit. Maybe it was because I thought I was the girl on my graphic tee, but I'm a lot less chic and my top knot is very lopsided. But whatever. I had fun wearing this and you guys should always try trying out different, weird, fun, interesting kind of outfits! It definitely makes your day a lot more different, weird, fun, AND interesting!

maggie

What Am I Suppose To Dress Like When I Change My Mind Every 0.07 Seconds?

Old Navy Sweater
Leggings
Arturo Chiang Boots

So, if you're reading this, you are most likely a teenage girl in high or middle school (if you're not I still love you anyway) and, because you are a teenage girl in the midst of some of the worst/best years of your life, you most likely change you mind about anything and everything 24/7. I get it. I understand when you want to throw yourself out a window one minute and the next minute want to dance to Hannah Montana throwbacks. So, when you're always feeling pretty strange all the time, how can you channel that in your outfit choices? When I know I'm never going to make up my mind on an outfit, I try to pick out the most basic outfit possible. This is one of those outfits. It's a simple oversized sweater over leggings with an infinity scarf and tall boots. It's pretty hard to hate this outfit because it's so simple and comfortable, so it works well with weird decision makers.
If you're an emotionally stable teenager, please disregard everything I just said.

Classic

Forever21 Leather Jacket
H&M Top
Lauren Conrad Jeans
Arturo Chiang Boots

This outfit is super classic. Striped top, dark colored jeans, boots, and a leather jacket-basically the epitome of fall. This is a super easy outfit to wear when you want to dress up, but not be "too dressed up,"................if that makes sense. Lol?
Love,
Maggie

lAYYYEEEring

Patagonia Vest
Urban Outfitters Scarf
Random Sweater

SO guys. It's getting colder... which means more LAYERING! Or as I like to say with emphasis on the "AYE," lAYEring. Layering is very important to the winter season. It's kind of necessary for survival and all, so why not make it cute? (I think that's becoming my philosophy for everything). Today, for example, I started out with a simple grey oversized sweater and leggings. I grabbed a multicolored scarf, then found my vest that matches it. On the feet are just simple boots with high socks. I think I wear those everyday in the winter. But guys, layering doesn't have to be hard. It also does not have to match as much as this one did. Literally you can just throw stuff on top of one another. As long as you wear it confidently, you'll look good. Layering is easy. You just have to start with something and follow it where it takes you. (whoa just got too cheesy srry)
love,
Maggie

Light Blue

Lost Top
Scarf from Madewell
H&M Jeans

HELLO READERS. Happy day. I hope you are all doing swell. Today I was feeling mighty colorful....again... per usual.....it's common.....sorry. I wore light blue jeans with a black top. I layered a lavender scarf and short boots atop and came out with this. I like it. Hopefully you do too.

maggie

MARKET

So I recently had the opportunity to attend America's Mart in Atlanta with my co-worker and my lovely boss and owner of Vignette's. Needless to say, it was the experience of a lifetime. I was able to witness firsthand what goes into the process of "buying." I got to see spring samples before spring and even got to try many of them on!(there are NO mirrors in this place, so we needed a model). We spent three days searching for our spring looks, attending line presentations, fashion shows, and digging through racks on our own. I wish I could like marry the mart or like live there or something perfect like that. I had the absolute best time- three days was not nearly enough! I am very thankful for the opportunity and happy I could experience it! Now here are some pretty cool pics!

Day 1: Me with my PSF, guess I'm an Insider now!

Yeah this is only one of the buildings...

The apparel building has 13 floors of perfection

The fashion show stage!

Me, chillin in my camo pants.

ATL BBY!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!

MIX THOSE PATTERNS

Top and Skirt both Forever21

The easiest way to mix patterns is using black and white stripes with colorful florals. I wore just that and put a scarf and boots over it. If it was any colder, I could have throw an army jacket on top as well. If you are wanting to try out mixing patterns, I definitely recommend starting out with stripes and floral! Have fun!

maggie

Seeing Double

Top from Nordstrom
Urban Outfitters sweater
Gap Jeans

So hi. Today I kinda went craZy on the colors. I basically started out with the floral top and matched the blue with blue pants and the yellow with a yellow sweater. A lot easier than it looks right? Next time you're looking to mix things up, try starting with a multicolored top and layering over it.
-maggie

Plaid shirt, Pale Face

Thrifted Top
Thrifted Boots

Hiiiiiii so today I am wearing a simple oversized plaid shirt with skinny jeans and tall brown boots. This outfit is the epitome of fall and everyone knows it and it's kind of basic but I don't care because it's comfortable. That's all.

All I really need is good friends, good music, and a good brick wall to take a picture by.

H&M Top
Random random random random other things.......like I have no idea where they're from...

It's getting colder! Which means more sweaters and more wearing all black! Yes I enjoy wearing all black. No it does not mean I'm emo. In this outfit, I'm doing just that, but with a nice cream cardigan over it. I also added two necklaces for some depth. This is a really good outfit to wear in the winter months because it's not just a huge sweater and leggings, but it's just as comfy and warm AND cute. Yeah okay.
Love,
Maggie

"She's had her denim vest for over a year, so she must be cool."

Charlotte Russe Denim Vest
Randddddddddddommmmmmm Striped Tunic

No, I am I not trying to flatter myself with that title. I just believe that denim vests have become this "right of passage" into becoming a cool hipster chick who doesn't care about anything, but cares enough to still wear her vest with pearls and a chevron dress. (jk about that last part lol) But yeah denim vests are cool and have stayed cool for awhile, which is cool. I'm wearing mine with a simple striped tunic, legging, and boots. It's the perfect outfit because it's still legging and a cotton top, but the top is actually cute and covers my butt. So yeah.

Wet Hair, Dry Love Life

Free People Top
Madewell Jeans

Isn't it fun when you forget to take an ootd picture so you must change back into your outfit with wet hair from swim practice? IT IS VERY FUN. Just kidding. I'm always glad to take an ootd pic. This outfit was simply a cool gray top with gray boots and an electric blue scarf. I am majorly obsessed with the sleeves; they are velvet! LOLZ.

Fav

Thrifted Jacket
Target Top
Necklace available at VIGNETTE'S

I LOVE this outfit. I'm not sure if it was the comfort of it, or the contrast of the pretty necklace with combat boots and a military jacket, or maybe both of those combined, made me fall more in love as the day progressed. All I am wearing is a cotton striped shirt with a statement necklace and then over that I put the army jacket and threw on the combat boots. It was easy and comfy with a little extra pizzazz for a Monday. I love.
peace,
Maggie

Am I Preppy or Not?

Madewell Top
Lauren Conrad Collection for Kohl's jeans

I am very aware of the fact that one day I look like a preppypinkchevronbowcute white girl and the next a total hobo boho hipster freak. But, I feel like, because I dress differently and according to how I'm feeling THAT DAY, makes my style what it is. This outfit, for example, is on the preppier side. It's a simple fall colorblock with cute flats. Super cute for fall guys.
love,
Maggie

Return to Normalcy

Gap Scarf
Madewell Top
Jeans
Clark's flats

So here's the thing: my life has been super crazy the past few weeks. If you follow my insta(if you don't, you should maybe?) you might have noticed I had homecoming week, went on a trip to New York City, and went to America's Mart with my job! Like wut. I know RIGHT! omg stop talking to urself. But, yes blog posts are COMING I SWEAR! Right now, I'm just trying to return to normalcy by referring to Warren Harding's inauguration speech and also yeah school and all that. But this was the day I returned from NYC, so I looked super chill in a casual button down, scarf, flats, and a top knot.
Peace and Love,
Maggie

NYC ROUND 2

It's hard to comprehend the fact that, for 18 years of my life I had never travelled farther north than North Carolina(not kidding), and now I have been to New York City twice during the course of three months. My first trip was in fact THE result of an 18 year long argument with my parents that basically consisted of me whining that I'll never be able to become my full self until I travel to the city, which my parents typically responded with multiple eye rolls and casual subject changes. But yes, I finally did make it. And yes, my heart was fulfilled. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when my best friend Mary Alyce invited me to accompany her and her mom and sister AND our other bff Erin to a trip to New York. Hahahaha. Another trip to New York WITH my best friends???!!! I think I am now officially living in a cheesy Disney show! I can't handle my life sometimes. So, our trip took off(literally we were on a plane) the morning after our LAST homecoming at school(blog post to come about that, and it will be good!!!). We were there for four days and, because I've studied the map of Manhattan more times that Miley has stuck her tongue out in the last year, I was the designated navigator. Hence, it really felt like I lived there this time! Great feeling! On our trip, we went to the Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, saw Once, shop in Soho, window shopped on the Upper East Side, AND went to the Statue of Liberty. Experiencing that with my best friends in the world was incredible.

This was my travel outfit on the plane and what no lol not a hobo

So It Seems....

So it seems that I am somehow busier than I have ever been in my life......which is fine.....but that means super late blogging habits. I would formally like to apologize to those select few that actually read this blog on a constant time period. I have a lot(OF GOOD) things going on, but I have not even had time to have a daily dose of Disney channel in WEEKS, which says a lot about me...Anyway, here are my outfits from like 20938109834 weeks ago. Once again, I'm sorry that I am late, but I am happy I can share bits of my life through fashion with you.

Garden Combat

Forever21 Top
Urbanog Boots

THE BOOTS!! These floral combat boots are kind of like my adopted children (my kate spade is my blood related child) and I love them a lot. I centered the outfit around them, if you could not tell. Just a maroon shirt with a simple long necklace. But back to the boots.... I get varied responses like "OMG COOL SHOES," and "cool shoes....?" My favorite one so far was, "wow you could perform combat in a flower garden!"

happy happy happy

Hey guys! Today I just want to remind everyone that, no matter what's going on in your life, ALWAYS remember to smile! Things will get better. And, even if you're having the worst day of your life, just remember that Lizzie McGuire wore a unicorn sweater on her school picture day. On that note, today I'm wearing an blue ombre fringe top with a mustard yellow scarf. On the bottom, just skinny jeans and brown boots. This outfit is an awesome transition piece from summer to fall because of the scarf, jeans, and boots with the sleeveless top. The colors are also darker for fall. Hope this can give some inspiration for the weird in-between season we're in!

Maggie

Lol Fall Where You At?

Mink Pink Top
Skinny Jeans
Random Necklace & Boots

So.........fall clothes are out, people are wearing fall clothes, why is it sTILL SO HOT?????? Well, my solution to this problem is to simply wear fall clothes anyway, who cares if you sweat? Who cares if you're friends stop talking to you because you smell? You will look(and feel) super cute in fall clothes! Today I wore this interesting striped thing with cutouts on the shoulders. I thought it was fun and I wanted to highlight the top the most. So, I wore my hair up and added a simple necklace and boots. No matter how you look at them, Mondays are always lazy day. This is lazy enough for me. Love you guys!
xoxo,
Maggie
