Farewell, Summer '15

Banana Republic Top
Kate Spade Necklace
Seychelles Ankle Boots

So, summer's over and let's just say it's been an interesting time. Being home for an entire summer after being away at college for a year is a transition that only those who have experienced it can understand. The most accurate portrayal of this experience is this Saturday Night Live Skit.

Aside from literally living this skit on a daily basis, I have also done more unproductive things like coining the new phrase "spotify and chill," discovering an app called Flipagram in which I make a slideshow for every mundane event that happens to me, and fratting around with my friends.

me 50% of this summer

Needless to say, I've been reckless this summer. Lucky for everyone I head back to school tomorrow so maybe I'll stop annoying everyone by watching Disney Channel and singing showtunes all the time. HAHA who are we kidding that's the biggest lie I've ever told #cantstop #wontstop.

me the other 50% of the summer

Anyway, the outfit I'm wearing above all these strange pics is a sheer pink button-down with my distressed denim shorts. I added my colorful Kate Spade necklace and, go figure, my metallic Seychelles ankle boots. This outfit is super colorful and perfect to go out with a bang to the weirdest summer I've ever had!

PEACE OUT SUMMER,

Maggie

**Also this post is dedicated to Rodger, Justin, Carol, Brody, and Aunt Jemima for making this a great summer! ily

Apparently it's National Lipstick Day and Yet No One Canceled Work or School

American Eagle Top
Gap Jeans
H&M Flats

I came up with a lot of different titles for this blog post- mostly because I'm slowing going insane at home waiting for school to start again and I also wanted to practice for a future career in naming nail polish (just kidding)((I think)). Of course the title about National Lipstick Day not being a federal holiday won, but I would like to share some of the runners up first:

"Maybe She's Born With It, Maybe She Bought Maybelline at a Drug Store"
"This is the ONLY Time You'll Ever See Me in BOTH Pink AND Camo"
"Lipsticks Stains...on the Cheeseburger I'm Eating"

Okay I'm done. Well, I could keep going but I'll stop for the sake of everyone's sanity. As I learned today on Instagram, today was National Lipstick Day. Naturally, I immediately go find the coolest color of lipstick I own- "Power Peony" by Maybelline, and force my sister to take photos of me. I tried to keep my outfit neutral- a white top and dark camo pants, in order to highlight my pops of pink with my lipstick and flats. Because I am celebrating National Lipstick Day, this look is perfect to draw attention to my lip color.

So readers, there's still approximately 4 hours left of National Lipstick Day. Hurry and put on your fav color and go kiss some boys!!!! (who am I kidding just take a selfie acting like you're out then go back to watching The Dark Knight marathon on tv like a normal person)

Peace, luv, and I hate myself,

Maggie

"You At The Barricades Listen To This!"

Free People Top
Pants from Anna Lou boutique

I bet you're thinking, isn't outfitofthedaybymaggie tired of using Les Mis references in the majority of her blog posts? The answer is no. I will never be tired of quoting showtunes so you can give up on that dream ("I dreamed a dream.."). Okay I'll stop, for now. Today I'm wearing a Free People lace top with my super fun tie-dye pants. It's such a cute summer outfit and can be worn anywhere, even in front of a barricaded gate! Yes that's right! No one can hold ootdbymaggie down when she's trying to take a photo for instagram #doitforthegram #followme @outfitofthedaybymaggie #okayimdone.

Thanks for reading?

~*nYc*~~~~

This one goes out to my favorite city. I love you New York never change.

*clears throat*
*stands on the corner of 58th and 5th ave and serenades the city of New York*

"Now I've had the time of my life
No, I've never felt like this before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
And I owe it all to you
I've been waiting for so long
Now I've finally found someone
To stand by me
We saw the writing on the wall
As we felt this magical fantasy
Now with passion in our eyes
There's no way we could diguise it secretly
So we take each others hand
'Cause we seem to understand the urgency
Just remember
You're the one thing
I can't get enough of
So I'll tell you something
This could be love, because
I've had the time of my life
No I've never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth,
And I owe it all to you
Hey Baby
With my body and soul
I want you more than you'll ever know
So we'll just let it go,
don't be afraid to lose control, no
Yes I know what's on your mind,
when you say "Stay with me tonight"
(Stay with me)
Just remember, you're the one thing,
I can't get enough of
So I'll tell you something,
This could be love because
I've had the time of my life,
(I've had the time of my life)
No, I've never felt this way before,
Yes I swear it's the truth
(Yes I swear)
And I owe it all to you
Cause I've had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
(through everywhere)
Till I found the truth
And I owe it all to you
(Instrumental)
(REPEAT 2X)
Now I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before (Never Felt this way)
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open doorTill I've found the truth
And I owe it all to you"
*runs away*

Day 1

So here I stand on my favorite corner in all of the world, West 58th Street and 5th Avenue. I may or may not have just finished singing/dancing to (I Had the) Time of My Life, but I'll leave that for you to decide. Anyway, to bring y'all up to speed, I went to New York with my school to learn more about the fashion industry. We attended meetings and tours of different fashion offices and schools and got the opportunity to chat with industry professionals for a week. It was such an amazing experience. On the first day one of my favorite things we did was tour the Tommy Hilfiger flagship store on Fifth Avenue. It was definitely one of the coolest stores I've ever been in. For my look that day, I kept things casual and simple since we were running around the city all day in meetings. I wore a stripe bag dress, my black hat, and my fav black booties. To add a detail, I tied up the side of my dress to give tiniest bit of personal style.

Day 1 Cont.
Show me your Mumu dress
Mr. Shoe I love u
It's very safe to say that this dress changed my life....for good. *Cue "For Good" from the Wicked soundtrack.* Later this day we went to see Wicked on Broadway. I'm proud to say I cried. If you couldn't tell by now, I love any and all showtunes. After the show we walked around the Theatre District and it just so happened that Matthew Morrison from Glee was leaving his performance of Finding Neverland. Naturally, we forced our way through the crowd to get selfies. Another one of my musical theatre dreams coming true...and all right before your eyes!!!!

Day 2
^with the Valentino section at the Dover Street Market
"Julio get the stretch"
This day was spend tour the Fashion Institute of Technology and visiting offices at Dujour Magazine. We also went to the Dover Street Market and shopped around before our feet fell off. I'm wearing a fringe jacket(it was colddd that day) (by cold I mean below 70 degrees #thatscoldforme) a white leather shirt, my distressed denim jeans, and my black ankle boots. **SPOILER ALERT: I wear those boots everyday in NYC. It was a rad day to say the least.

Day 3

If I had to describe my perfect day, it would have probably consisted of everything that happened on this day. We began our day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I got to see the newest CHINA exhibit and then I drug everyone I was with to my second favorite place in the world, the MET rooftop. Afterwards we awed at the Upper East Side and then frolicked around Central Park. Then we visited the design offices at Hutch Designs and shopped some more. (Shopping may or may not have been the center of this trip).

Day 3 Cont.
This was one of my favorite looks from the trip. As a group, we all went to dinner and then walked around Times Square. This outfit was simply a white maxi dress with a sheer white crop top over it. I added a pop of color with my pink lips. It was such a fun outfit to wear. If I could get married in this outfit I probably would.

Day 4

This was our last full day in the city:((((((((((((((((. I wore my Free People overalls over a striped top, my H&M statement necklace, and, you guessed it, my black ankle boots. We went all over the city this day and talked with some alumni working in the fashion industry. We also went to Bendel's where I found this ~kewl~ wall. It was a good week.

To conclude: The world is great and all, but NEW YORK is the GREATEST city of ALL TIME.
(that was inspired by Kanye's interruption at the 2009 VMA's about Beyonce's music video over Taylor Swift's)

Basically, Beyonce rules. New York rules. You rule.

love,
Maggie

American Horror Story: Disney Channel

Hat from Vignette's (follow on insta @vignettesaug)
Sweater from Kohl's
Jeans from Urban
Booties from Old Navy

"You're a wizard, Maggie!"- is what I never heard on my 11th birthday. It's whatever though because apparently I'm a coven witch. No joke I walked out of the house with this outfit on and my friends  said "OMG you're literally a witch from American Horror Story!" But... jokes on them because an AHS witch wouldn't be singing Hannah Montana and quoting Disney throwbacks for an entire day. Anyway, all I'm saying is there's nothing wrong with wearing an entirely black outfit, even if people think that you're a witch. That's all. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram @outfitofthedaybymaggie and read my posts on CollegeFashionista.com !!!!

Peace,
Maggie

I Love Seeing Celebrities Without Makeup, It's Like Seeing A Dog Walk on its Hind Legs

H&M Sweater
Charlotte Russe Denim Vest
Seychelles booties

STARS JUST LIKE US!!!! Am I right???? Everyone has their day (or days) when their fashion sense is questionable. Being a college student, this happens pretty much everyday. Whether I dress cute for my morning class then get lazy and go change into a hoodie for my afternoon class, or I dress in a hoodie and leggings from the start of the day, I am definitely a victim of lazy dress. And that's okay because deep down I know I'm fashionable!!!(I think?)(no I definitely am!)(fashion week!! Marchesa anyone???). Anyway, back to the point. The hardest thing about getting ready in the morning isn't finding an outfit, it's finding the time to sit down and do your hair and makeup. I'm right, right? So what's more important, wearing a cute outfit with messy hair and no makeup or wearing a sweatshirt and uggs with perfectly put together hair and makeup? That's up to you. Of course, if you're feeling ambitious, do both. But, for the sake of saving time as a college student, I suggest you choose one or the other. For my outfit above, I choose the outfit. I'm wearing a cute but comfy sweater & leggings with high socks, a denim vest, metallic ankle boots, and fun necklaces. As you can see, my hair looks like a literal bird's nest and my face looks like a ghost....but my outfits cute right?? Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful guys!!

Maggie

AVADA KEDAVRA MY SOCIAL LIFE

Angie brand peacoat
JCP sweater
Old Navy booties

I've been wearing this coat all day acting like it's a cloak and my campus is Hogwarts. SO obviously you want to be friends with me right? Good. Also, I hate myself. Anyway, a long coat like this cloak is a key piece for your winter wardrobe. It keep everything warm AND you can pretend like your in Harry Potter. It's the best of both worlds! "You get the limo out front.." JUST KIDDING I won't do that again! Here's my Hannah Montana post in case you missed it. Funny that it's also one of my all time worst posts! HAHA. Anyway, I highly recommend getting on of these cloaks. I wore mine with a simple black and white combo. It's super cute and easy to wear in the winter y'all!!!!

Here's me in my invisibility cloak!
Cute right?!?!?!

I hate myself x50.

200th POST

Casual Friday top
Thrifted jacket
Madewell Denim
Seychelles Booties
J. Crew Necklace
Kate Spade Bag

CONGRATULATIONS! You've made it to my 200th post! This is a big deal, bigger than crop tops and a trivia crack win in the sports category (or maybe that's just big for me). Anyway, I've been providing terrible puns and sarcasm on this blog for the past two years. TWO YEARS. What. We've come such a long way since January 8, 2013. We've travelled from high school to college, preppy to grunge, grunge to preppy, black ankle boots to metallic ankle boots, a disney channel obsession to an even bigger disney channel obsession, and much, much more together and I can't thank y'all enough for all your support and love. I can't wait to see where this journey takes us this year and beyond. I love you all so much. Thank you!

Love,
Maggie

p.s. this is one of the only times you'll see me get sappy (wait who I am kidding this happens on a daily basis.

p.p.s. don't forget to follow me on Instagram and read my CollegeFashionista posts!

The Best of Both Worlds

Oh yeah
Come on

You get the limo out front
Hottest styles, every shoe, every color

Yeah, when you're famous it can be kinda fun
It's really you but no one ever discovers

In some ways you're just like all your friends
But on stage you're a star

You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show

You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together and you know that it's the best of both worlds

The best of both worlds

You go to movie premiers (is that Orlando Bloom?)
Hear your songs on the radio
Livin' two lives is a little weird
But school's cool cause nobody knows

Yeah you get to be a small town girl
But big time when you play your guitar

You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show

You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together and you know that it's the best of both
You know the best of both worlds

Pictures and autographs
You get your face in all the magazines
The best part is that you get to be who ever you wanna be

(Best! Best!) Yeah, the best of both!
(Best! Best!) You got the best of both!
(Best! Best!) Come on, the best of both!

Who would of thought that a girl like me
Would double as a superstar

You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show

You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together and you know that it's the best of both worlds

You get the best of both worlds
Without the shades and the hair
You can go anywhere

You get the best of both girls
Mix it all together
Oh, yeah
It's so much better 'cause you know you've got the best of both worlds

OKay so now that that happened... I hope I can inspire you with these inspirational indie lyrics. I interpret them as a song about mixing tennis shoes with a cute outfit...or about a middle school girl that lives a double life as a teen pop star? Either one. Anyway, I love this outfit for the first week of classes because you can look cute and still be able to walk around campus comfortably. Try mixing your tennis shoes up with your cute outfits and you really will get the best of both worlds.

love,

Maggie...
