Fur vests and pastels

"Ya!" Brand fur vest
H&M sweater
Forever21 necklace
Jeans
Brown boots

Hey guys hope everyone's had a good week so far! Only one more day until the weekend yayyy! For now, however, I'm wearing this chunky H&M sweater with jeans dressed up with a fur vest, long necklace, and boots. This is one example on how to dress up something simple. And I know this isn't actually a complete pastel colored outfit aside from the sweater, I just want to mention my love for winter pastels! Even if it is just a sweater or scarf, pastel mint, blue, or lavender colors give off a chic, "winter wonderland" vibe to any outfit! Thanks for reading!

The importance of button downs

Shirt from a random boutique in Atlanta
Jeans
Oxfords from Francesa's
Lulu brand purse from Marshall's

Today I was feeling pretty tired, as usual, so instead of sporting a t shirt I threw on a button down, jeans, and oxfords. It's the perfect "not too dressy" but "not too crappy," a recipe for casual success! Any type of button downs are a great alternative and that's why you see me blog about them all the time!

It's 70 degrees again

J.Crew dress
Grey infinity scarf
Black boots from Dillard's

Okay so I know this dress is breaking a lot of fashion laws with the spring colors and all, but I couldn't resist! The weather is literally "spring" today so I may as well use the opportunity to dress for spring!! The color for spring 2013 was recently announced (monaco blue pictured below) and I found this dress in the depths of my closet bought 2 years ago at the j.crew outlet that happened to be striped with Monaco blue! It's a great day! Hope everyone had an equally good one! Now back to winter terrible weather tomorrow...

Mondays

Shirt- Forever21
Cardigan- H&M
Scarf- random store for $7 ;)
Madewell jeans
Combat boots-Urbanog.com

Hello hope everyone had a great weekend! Now we have to pay the price for the weekend and that would be Mondays. We can all agree that if Monday was a person it would suck eggs and smell bad, but despite all of the bad, there is a glimmer of hope in one of the sequins on the girl's jeans in front of you and that would be your outfit. Now, I know mine is not anything fancy, but it still makes me feel better than wearing a hoodie and sweats. To pull off this casual Monday outfit, I simply paired a white shirt with a long black cardigan, jeans, red scarf, and my floral combat boots(I'm obsessed with these and they were only about $40 with shipping). Also I did not even touch my hair; I just let it do it's thang, which is good because sometimes you need to give your hair a break. Anyways, I'm getting off topic, but remember, a simple tee and cardigan are the perfect answer for a gloomy Monday.
Peace out,
Maggie

S/o to Joy Hong for making her outfit today inspired by me!! And s/o to everyone for reading and supporting! I love you all!

Feeling CLASSY

Forever21 peacoat
Gap sweater
Leather vest from goodwill
Grey infinity scarf (again)
Jeans
Black boots

Peacoats are always classy. I don't care if you're wearing bathing suit underneath it, peacoats make outfits instantly more elegant. Today it's FREEZING and this morning I literally just piled on the layers: my wool striped sweater, leather vest, scarf, warm socks and boots. That's my favorite thing about winter is that you can layer anything you want and it doesn't have to match to result in an effortless, chic look while staying warm. Also, jumping back to the peacoat thing, today I received a few compliments on my outfit and I said thanks but then I realized I was really just wearing a buttoned up peacoat and jeans! That shows the power a peacoat has! So, when you run out of outfits, just throw on a peacoat, no one will no if you're wearing a t shirt underneath! ;)
Have a splendid weekend!!

Random

Sweater-anthropoglie
Shorts-got @ a random boutique in charleston
Leggings-old navy
Socks-kohls
Boots-dilliards(I think)
Grey infinity scarf

Today's outfit it's kinda random and doesn't really have significance(lol). Basically I just paired my yellow scallop shorts with a sweater with a boho-ish feel and added leggings, warm socks, an even warmer scarf, and boots. This could fall under the shorts with tights trend and using summer clothes in the winter like I've said in previous blog post, so take a look at those if you haven't, they might have something relevant in them unlike this blog post. Thanks for reading!!

Freezing!

Roxy sweater
Patagonia vest
Old navy jeans
And brown boots that I don't remember where I got them from!

Basically it's freezing outside today, so, of course, I had to wear a big sweater and this one is one of my favorites!! I know it's hard to tell in the picture but it has blue, purple, and green mixed into to it-so it literally can match anything!! Today, however, I decide to match it with colors of the same family instead of contrasting them with some random color. It was a fun outfit to wear because of all the colors but without being too crazy. Also the sweater combined with the vest kept me warm! Whenever I see people with a Patagonia/columbia/whatever vest, they are usually wearing it with a t shirt. Don't feel like you can't dress up a vest!! Maybe try to match it with a sweater or a button down of some sorts! Thanks for reading!

Utilize your hoodies

Denim vest-Charlotte russe
AE black jeggings
Blowfish booties
And I have no idea where I got this sweatshirt lol

So today it's very cold, it's the first day back from a three day weekend, and I'm sick. To shine some positive light on this I decided to take "bumming" to the next level by getting something comfy, in this case a hoodie, and adding a denim vest. Then I put on comfy jeggings and booties to match. I've seen a ton of jackets lately that are half denim half cloth or half leather and with this I realized you can homemake those. Just add a vest over an already made jacket and there you go. This outfit was perfect for me today because I was super comfy at school without looking like a hobo. This look can be used with any random athletic clothes or hoodies you have in the depths of you closets. Just dress up your athletic clothes and you might make a decent looking outfit. Thanks for reading!

Peace,
Maggie

Sweater-Target
Scarf-BP Nordstrom
Jeans-Old Navy
Boots-Dilliards

Happy Friday!! It's winter again, which means haul out the big sweaters again! Big sweaters and flannels basically have the same function in my book, except that sweaters are warmer. You can dress them up or down anyway you want. I added a simple scarf and high boots to mine for a casually chic look. Who said you cant look cute and be comfy? Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Urban outfitters purple cardigan
Urban outfitters scarf
Free people tunic
Leggings
Socks
Rainboots from old navy

R@1nY d@yzzzz. Okay, I know on rainy days everyone wants to crawl back into bed and can't even imagine getting up and putting forth effort into an outfit. Buttttt while it can be hard, it's worth it. Take a pair of rainboots(if you don't own any, I recommend buying some, I got mine for $15 at old navy) and instead of throwing on a t shirt and jeans, try pairing them with leggings and a dress or long shirt. In this case, I put on a tunic, scarf, and a purple cardigan. Also high socks under your boots can always make an outfit 10x better. Thanks for reading!
Yay for rainy days,
Maggie

Flannels. How could we live without them? Last night I was up late and just didn't have the time or energy to plan a dynamic outfit. In the morning I literally threw on my flannel, jeans, and infinity scarf. And to top that off, threw my hair into a bun and put on my comfy mockasins. Flannels are a great alternative for t shirts and, in my opinion, they are even better. Another perk is that you can dress up or dress down the flannel as much as you want to. In this case, I added an simple infinity scarf. You can also add a statement necklace or a vest. Thanks for reading!!
Much love,
Maggie

**note- bottom pic is my best friend Eric carter who happened to match me today!!!

January 15, 2013

Hi all. It's Tuesday. It's the middle of January. And it's 73929526 degrees. Now, what do you do when its this hot, this early in the winter season? One option is to take summer clothes and incorporate them with wintery items. Shorts and tights/leggings are a growing trend and it's so easy to do! I paired some grunge high waisted jean shorts with tights and hoots, a brown belt, and a breezy green lace shirt. When you run out of jeans or looking for a twist, shorts and tights are perfect!!

Urban outfitters white lace shirt
Vest from goodwill:)
AE jeans
Grey tall boots
Necklace with all the chains from forever21
Blue necklace from Nordstrom

Happy Monday all! Please ignore my face in this picture, it was really sunny and, not to mention, HOT! Seriously how is it almost 80 degrees in January? Anyway today I paired a lace shirt(I wear this a lot I recommend investing in one) with a leather vest(also a great investment) jeans boots, and piled on some necklaces. Though it is hard to tell, I doubled up two necklaces, one with the multiple chains and the simple blue one, to give a statement effect. Doubling necklaces is a fun thing to do and can basically work with any necklaces that are around the same length. Thanks for reading, please come back for more!

Maggie

January 11, 2013

H&M black cardigan
Orange infinity scarf
Crafty couture dress
Brown boots
Socks from kohl's

Gotta get down on Friday! This is me taking advantage of the 73 degree weather in January. The dress I'm wearing is strapless and is usually worn in the summer, but I had the urge to wear it now. I piled a long cardigan, an knit infinity scarf, high socks and riding boots on and bam- it's a winter dress. I also love the boho feel it gives off. When you're missing your favorite summer dress or you ran out of dresses to wear, try taking a summer dress and winter-fying it. It's easy and can be done with things you already have in your closet.

Maggie

Forever21 black leather jacket
Forever21 white sweater shirt
AE jeans
Fringed booties
Earrings from urban outfitters

Simply swift. Last night I watched the people's choice awards for about five seconds and the first person I saw was Taylor Swift in classic white, hair pulled back, and, my favorite part, the light blue earrings. It's a simple concept, it literally looks good on anyone! However, I decided to kick it up a notch. I started with a wintery white sweater shirt, jeans and the blue earrings. I added the fringed booties for a boho feel, but then threw on an unlikely leather jacket. One of my favorite things is to pair something really classy with something out of the ordinary, such as a leather jacket or combat boots. If you're not as adventurous, the leather or fringe isn't necessary. Taylor's chic look is perfect enough on its own. When you run out of ideas, a white shirt and a nice pair of earrings is a quick fix!

Thank you everyone for all your support! Love,
Maggie

January 9, 2013

Pacsun sweater
Forever21 maroon collared shirt
AE jeans
Black riding boots

Casual Wednesdays? Just kidding. Today was just one of those day where it takes a real effort to put one foot in front of the other. We all have these cursed, sluggish, lazy days, but the don't let the urge to bum come over you. This morning I just wanted to put on a big sweater and go, yet by simply adding a collared shirt underneath, it automatically made the outfit more sophisticated. Then simply pairing it with jeans and riding boots, it's as easy and as comfy as a t shirt. Last I threw my hair into a low pony(more hair tips to come later on). So, next time you're feeling a "t-shirt day," remember you can always try to simply add a collared shirt or maybe a string of pearl to your outfit. You might be tired, but if you look good, you'll feel better!!

January 8, 2013

Ark&co. Red leather jacket
Gap striped shirt
AE jeans
Forever 21 oxfords
And random tie thing that I got from a dress and turned in into a scarf.

Today's outfit was surprisingly inspired by something that took place about 6 years ago, the very first episode of Gossip Girl. Serena's outfit when she firsts steps off the train in Grand Central is the simple stripe shirt and jeans with a twist. She added the leather jacket to edge it up a bit and the scarf to still remain classy. I attempted to create this look considering it was my first day back at school and much like Serena, I was looking for a fresh start. Leave it to the stylists of Gossip Girl to create an outfit that is timeless enough to be copied in 2013. Hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday and please come back for more of my ootd's!

Maggie
